Reading is NOT Natural

If you start reading about the ability of the human brain to work with spoken language versus its ability to learn the process of reading, there is a plethora of information out there reinforcing the need for reading to be taught explicitly. Just because teh act of reading may SEEM natural in many cases, doesn’t mean that it IS natural for our brains.

Not only is it saddening and a waste of time to be caught up in misconceptions online, it means delaying CRITICAL interventions for students who need them now.
