DIfferences have always added beauty. In nature and ecology, differences are valued, appreciated and desired. the world would be a boring place if all butterflies had wings the same color.
NEURODIVERGENCE is that difference. The reason this term stands out is that it reinforces the knowledge that having differences in the way we think, act, learn, emote and respond are just that - different; not diminuitive.
As our knowledge of neurodivergent learning grows, it brings with it a necessity for structural changes.It calls for society to accommodate; validate instead of isolate neurodivergent children and adults across all educational systems. However, institutional change is slow and a lot of our kids need it now.
This initiative starts by addressing the need to tailor complex, rigid systems of instruction to the kids; not vice versa.
